In mid-March 2020, I was told to gather what I needed to work from home. It's been a very long year and I'd be lying if I said it hasn't taken a toll on me. Going through it all alone has been particularly difficult. But. There is light at the end of the tunnel. And I've still managed to keep myself very busy over the past year. I'm sure I'm missing some things, but for now here's my report on "What I Did Over the Course of the Pandemic":

  • Wrote a Yahtzee knockoff computer game (called "Ayuhtzee") using Visual Basic.
  • Wrote my first full-length play, Inside Man. This is a collaborative effort between friend and writer Danielle Bannister. My play will be the play that the characters in her book will be rehearsing. Currently working on what I hope will be the last major edit before we release the play and the book this fall!
  • Had three readings of Inside Man with edits made after each.
  • Wrote a bunch of short (ten minute) plays.
  • Wrote, recorded, and edited a video short of my play Transference.
  • Wrote, recorded, and edited a video short called The Planning Committee featuring some of the Black Box Teens from Schoolhouse Arts Center.
  • One of my short plays, Sunshine and Moonbeam, was selected for the Monmouth Community Players Short Play Festival -- to be performed April 9-11.
  • Was cast in mini-series called Quarantine 2038 as one of the central characters. We're in the process of filming the last few episodes. Hulu has indicated some possible interest.
  • Recorded some short videos of myself singing and playing ukulele.
  • Was a "Guest Professor" on two episodes of the hit YouTube game show, Balderdash Academy.
  • Joined the cast of Balderdash Academy to create Balderdash Academy Teacher's Lounge, an improvised sketch comedy podcast.
  • Participated in a virtual reunion of the cast of A Lie of the Mind with Midcoast Theater Company.
  • Performed in a virtual cabaret with Schoolhouse Arts Center, singing "Chim Chim- Cher-ee" as Burt from Mary Poppins.
  • Was a panelist on many episodes of a livestreamed show called The Same Game (a Match Game knockoff).
  • Appeared on one episode of the YouTube series Playground Rules as school librarian Skip Draper.
  • Saw two movies at the drive-in theater: The Goonies and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The last movie I saw at a drive-in was The Karate Kid when it was originally released.
  • Was a cast member in a murder-mystery show (yet to be released -- stay tuned).
  • Started up a new podcast called We All Have a Story, released every two weeks.
  • Started up a new podcast called DeScripted with my friend Tyler, released every two weeks.
  • Recorded an audio version of Edgar Allen Poe's The Cask of Amontillado with the very talented Mr. Joe Quinn, for the Arts & Cultural Alliance of Freeport.
  • Was a cast member of a virtual performance of A Christmas Carol with Royal River Community Players.
  • Was a guest on an episode of Ciampa & Klein's podcast Ciampa and Klein: The Knight Rider Years.
  • Participated in a virtual show, Winter Wonderland, with Windham Center Stage Theatre.
  • Was contacted by a group called Theatre Unmasked who wanted to do a reading of my play Transference during their weekly play reading group. I was able to attend and watch.
  • Participated as a playwright in Theatre Unmasked's event "Places!" with my play Following in Matt LeBlanc's Footsteps, which was rehearsed and then performed live via Zoom.
  • Taught myself how to use OBS (Open Broadcast Software).
