I am very excited to announce that I will be working with fellow actor and writer Danielle Bannister to help collaborate on her next book draft. Danielle has written a number of successful books which can be found here.
The book will be a romance -- her speciality. But as an actor, she has chosen to put a theatre front and center in the story. The main character in the book is an actress, and the story will be about her and the show that she is in rehearsals for. That's where I come in (you didn't really expect me to write a book, did you?) I am responsible for coming up with the material the characters in the book will be rehearsing. That means using some of my existing scripts or perhaps writing a completely new full-length play. I am definitely leaning in the "writing a full-length play" direction.
I am excited to work on this project for a number of reasons:
- Danielle is a super-talented writer and actor
- She and I have very similiar personalities and senses of humor (and according to her, we are both "sort of crazy")
- We both love what we do -- writing and acting, amongst other things
- In the end, I'll have a new play in my repertoire
- The book will be great P.R. for my writing
- Some of my material will be in a BOOK. That alone is the coolest thing ever!
Work has already begun on both my side as well as Danielle's. A project like this doesn't happen overnight, but I am looking forward to the process.
You can check out Danielle's blog entry about this project here.
I had Chinese food the day we announced this collaboration -- this was my fortune:
Happy New Year, all!
