World Premiere of Inside Man! January 4-7, 2024
- Details
I am THRILLED to announce that my full-length play, Inside Man, will be having it's world premiere January 4-7, 2024 at Schoolhouse Arts Center in Standish, Maine.
SYNOPSIS
After serving 12 years for a DUI that resulted in manslaughter, 32 year-old Nick Wells is being released from prison. As Nick leaves behind years of incarceration and his cellmate Trent, he returns home to his parents Fox and Carol. However, Fox makes it clear that there are no free rides, so Nick is forced to quickly find a job. Unlike Fox, Carol is thrilled to have her son back home and throws a “Welcome Home” party for him, along with Nick’s sister Janine and Janine’s best friend Tina. A quickly budding romance forms between Nick and Tina and together they come up with a plan for Nick to find employment while also trying to figure out what the future may hold for them as a couple. But with the clock ticking, Nick struggles to find a job before Fox kicks him out of the house for good. Inside Man is one man’s journey to find redemption, himself, and love outside of prison walls.

Inside Man - Now available on New Play Exchange (NPX)
- Details
Inside Man is now available on NPX!
The day has finally arrived! I have released my first full-length play, Inside Man, for the world to read on New Play Exchange (NPX)! It's both very exciting and very scary at the same time. If you are interested in reading it, NPX does charge a modest $10-12 per year fee (for readers) in order to access their database of thousands of scripts. If you do read it and enjoy it, please consider leaving a recommendation on NPX -- it really does help! Click here to go directly to the Inside Man page on NPX!
My thanks again to my collaborator on this project, Danielle Bannister. This play only exists because she had a need for snippets of a script that she could use in one of her upcoming books (coming in 2022). It was a very unique partnership because of how intertwined her book and my play have become.
A Very Busy COVID-19 Self-Isolation: What I Did Over the Course of the Pandemic
- Details
In mid-March 2020, I was told to gather what I needed to work from home. It's been a very long year and I'd be lying if I said it hasn't taken a toll on me. Going through it all alone has been particularly difficult. But. There is light at the end of the tunnel. And I've still managed to keep myself very busy over the past year. I'm sure I'm missing some things, but for now here's my report on "What I Did Over the Course of the Pandemic":
- Wrote a Yahtzee knockoff computer game (called "Ayuhtzee") using Visual Basic.
- Wrote my first full-length play, Inside Man. This is a collaborative effort between friend and writer Danielle Bannister. My play will be the play that the characters in her book will be rehearsing. Currently working on what I hope will be the last major edit before we release the play and the book this fall!
- Had three readings of Inside Man with edits made after each.
- Wrote a bunch of short (ten minute) plays.
- Wrote, recorded, and edited a video short of my play Transference.
- Wrote, recorded, and edited a video short called The Planning Committee featuring some of the Black Box Teens from Schoolhouse Arts Center.
- One of my short plays, Sunshine and Moonbeam, was selected for the Monmouth Community Players Short Play Festival -- to be performed April 9-11.
- Was cast in mini-series called Quarantine 2038 as one of the central characters. We're in the process of filming the last few episodes. Hulu has indicated some possible interest.
- Recorded some short videos of myself singing and playing ukulele.
- Was a "Guest Professor" on two episodes of the hit YouTube game show, Balderdash Academy.
- Joined the cast of Balderdash Academy to create Balderdash Academy Teacher's Lounge, an improvised sketch comedy podcast.
- Participated in a virtual reunion of the cast of A Lie of the Mind with Midcoast Theater Company.
- Performed in a virtual cabaret with Schoolhouse Arts Center, singing "Chim Chim- Cher-ee" as Burt from Mary Poppins.
- Was a panelist on many episodes of a livestreamed show called The Same Game (a Match Game knockoff).
- Appeared on one episode of the YouTube series Playground Rules as school librarian Skip Draper.
- Saw two movies at the drive-in theater: The Goonies and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The last movie I saw at a drive-in was The Karate Kid when it was originally released.
- Was a cast member in a murder-mystery show (yet to be released -- stay tuned).
- Started up a new podcast called We All Have a Story, released every two weeks.
- Started up a new podcast called DeScripted with my friend Tyler, released every two weeks.
- Recorded an audio version of Edgar Allen Poe's The Cask of Amontillado with the very talented Mr. Joe Quinn, for the Arts & Cultural Alliance of Freeport.
- Was a cast member of a virtual performance of A Christmas Carol with Royal River Community Players.
- Was a guest on an episode of Ciampa & Klein's podcast Ciampa and Klein: The Knight Rider Years.
- Participated in a virtual show, Winter Wonderland, with Windham Center Stage Theatre.
- Was contacted by a group called Theatre Unmasked who wanted to do a reading of my play Transference during their weekly play reading group. I was able to attend and watch.
- Participated as a playwright in Theatre Unmasked's event "Places!" with my play Following in Matt LeBlanc's Footsteps, which was rehearsed and then performed live via Zoom.
- Taught myself how to use OBS (Open Broadcast Software).

Update on my full-length play
- Details
It's been a while since I posted an update about the full-length play that I've been working on since December 2019. I had a very exciting first read with a talented group of fellow actors in mid-March and then completed the second draft in mid-April. I've been working on the third draft off and on since then, and I'm happy to say that I've essentially wrapped up that third draft. I'm working on scheduling another read-through with the original group, and I'm working on setting up a read-through with a second group.
I am still so excited about this project. I know that my project partner Danielle has been hard at work, too, and has made some excellent progress on her book.
I hope everyone is faring well in the middle of this COVID-19 pandemic. Take care of yourselves and wash your hands.
